Join Friends of the Library

Friends of the Library is a nonprofit advocacy organization which supports the Library. Our volunteer members advocate, educate, and raise funds on behalf of the Library, its patrons, and the community.

The J. J. Hands Friends of the Library was formed in 1990.  This organization set their goal as helping to supplement any additional funding that the J. J. Hands Library should require; i.e. books, computers, and media.  Through their yearly membership drive, luncheons, Festival of Trees, and other fundraisers they are able to raise the additional funds to assist in making the library the "hub" of the Lohrville community.  The circulation desk is one of many items the Friends have purchassed.  With the support of the Friends of the Library and the Lohrville Community Club, the Union Winners and Union Leaders 4-H Clubs received a grant from Iowa's Promise Youth for furniture in the new addition.  The Friends of the Library have given numerous hours volunteering for children's programs and various holiday parties.  We hope that this enthusiasm grows and continues in the future.

This resource is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act as administered by State Library of Iowa.
